Chicago is one of those cities that celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the same excitement that grips New Year’s Eve or Mardi Gras.
While the bars will be packed with revelers, another great aspect to celebrate the luck of the Irish is attending a great concert or show. If that’s your aim, or you’re looking to continue the party well past St. Patty’s Day, check out these awesome concerts.
March 31 @ 8 pm
Metro -- 330 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60613
Metro Chicago is a gem in Chicago’s concert culture. It’s a place to hear some of the most eclectic music in the city, and on March 31, Mr. James Bay will bless this venue with his heavenly sounds that will fill the walls of the Metro. It’s a great concert for those looking to chill out from all of the partying on St. Patrick’s Day.
Tyler, the Creator with Vince Staples
March 2 & 3 @ 6:30 pm
Aragon Ballroom -- 1106 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL 60640
His name is Tyler, the Creator, and he has become one of the best-known figures of modern day hip-hop. Although he’s a little unorthodox, you can’t deny his entertainment and star power, and he will bring both to the legendary Aragon Ballroom on March 2 for a show that will provide non-stop entertainment. So, if you need a warm-up for the St. Patty’s Day festivities that are sure to come, Tyler, the Creator will provide all the energy you need.
Demi Lovato with DJ Khaled and Kehlani
March 9 @ 7:30 pm
Allstate Arena -- 6920 Mannheim Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018
The music industry didn’t want these two to go on tour together? Why didn’t they want Demi Lovato, a modern day pop princess, and DJ Khaled, the modern day super producer and ultimate hype man, to go on tour together? We have no clue. However, what we all know is that this show, which will make a stop at the suburban Allstate Arena on March 9, will be a show that you don’t want to miss out on.
March 8 @ 8 pm
Rialto Square Theatre -- 102 N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432
Sometimes, you just have to appreciate the classic bands, and REO Speedwagon is definitely in that category. Now, for some, taking in a classic rock concert may not be your idea of a party-hard St. Patrick’s Day, but REO Speedwagon is one of those bands that will get your holiday started on the right note.
