Summer is in full swing and the Louisville area has a number of great outdoor activities to keep everyone satisfied. Among the many activities is a number of great outdoor concerts spread out among a large variety of genres. Over the next couple of weeks, there are is a number of options to check out. Here are just a few.
100% Poly with Rachel Timberlake and Luke Powers will be performing at FridayFest at Highview Park on July 21. The free show is open to the public and provides fun for those of all ages. There will be a number of local food vendors on hand and guest are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. 100% Poly are a party band that plays dance music from the 70's, 80's and 90's on up to today.
WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Concert Series is a monthly free concert on the Big Four Lawn and on July 26 folk rockers Strand of Oaks will be taking the stage. The show will also feature Low Cut Connie and The Zach Longoria Project. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets, but outside food and drinks are not allowed in the event area.
Vintage jazz band West Market Street Stompers will be playing a free show at the Paddock Shops in Louisville on Aug. 3 for their Music On The Terrace concert series. The concerts are fun for the whole family and there will be free face painting for all the kids. Check out the shops while you are there.
With a mix of blues and rock, Jenny & The Jets will be taking the stage in Willow Park on July 16 for the free Cherokee Triangle Summer Concert Series. Bring some chairs and blankets and come check out the show. Also bring along some canned goods and household items to donate to the Highland Community Minstry's Dare To Care Food Pantry, who will be on site.
Come out and enjoy the Sundown Street Party at Norton Commons Town Center on July 13. Enjoy free live music and some great food and drinks. Bring a chair or blanket and listen to the sounds of R&B/soul band Unlimited Band Show. There will also be face painting for the kids.
