Live music is part of the Fourth of July festivities at many of the festivals in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. during the holiday weekend. Highlights of this weekend's musical entertainment includes the headliners on the Main Stage at Taste of Minnesota and The Beach Boys at Mystic Lake in Prior Lake.
Taste of Minnesota
Taste of Minnesota is held at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia, Minn. for four days, July 2-5, 2015. The festival features Minnesota food and a great lineup of music. During the four day festival, 37 bands will perform on two stages from afternoon to events. The headliners are Gear Daddies, Foghat, P.O.D. and Phil Vassar.
Gear Daddies headlines on Thurs., July 2 at 8:30 p.m.. The band, originally from Austin, Minn., has been rockin' for 30 years and is known by hockey fans for the hit "I Wanna' Drive the Zamboni." A fireworks show will be held at 10:20 p.m..
Foghat takes the main stage on Fri., July 3 at 8;30 p.m.. The band has seven gold records, two platinum records and one double-platinum records. Their hits include "Slow Ride," "I Just Want to Make Love to You" and "Fool for the City." Fireworks will blast off at 10:20 p.m..
P.O.D. hits the Main Stage on Sat., July 4 at 9 p.m.. The Christian Contemporary Metal Band is best known to hockey fans for the hit "Youth of a Nation." Fireworks will light the skies at 10:20 p.m..
Phil Vassar performs on the Main Stage on Sun., July 5 at 6 p.m.. Vassar is a Country Music star best known for the hits "American Child" and "Another Day in Paradise."
Taste of Minnesota is held a the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia, Minn.. Admission if free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. After 1 p.m., admission is $10. Free parking is available.
Beach Boys at Mystic Lake in Prior Lake
Mystic Lake in Prior Lake is presenting a day of fun and entertainment with the Rock and Rockets event on Sat., July 4, 2015. The outdoor festival features a lineup of free music during the day. In the evening, the famed surf band The Beach Boys take the stages. Tickets are required for the Beach Boys concert, which is on the lawn. The Beach Boys concert will be held next to the free Rock and Rockets festival
The Rock and Rockets fest will present.local bands Viva Knieval and Maiden Dixie from 4-10 p.m.. Food and refreshments will be available from food truck and tents vendors, so outside food, beverages and coolers will not be allowed on the grounds. A fireworks show will be held at 10 p.m..
The Beach Boys will start to play on the lawn at 7:30 p.m.. Guests will enjoy dreamy surf music, with songs such as "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Surfin'," "Kokomo,""Wouldn't it be Nice," Good Vibrations" and "California Girls" General admission tickets are $32 and guests are invited to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs to sit on during the concert. Reserved seats are $49, $59 and $69 and seats will be provided for guests. Tickets can be purchased at the Mystic Lake website, but at the time of this writing only the general admission tickets are available.
