2016 was a struggle, but it's finally over and 2017 is upon us. And what better way to party for New Year's than with live music? Chicago has some great concerts to choose from, including the free Chi-Town Rising celebration and a set from duo The Hood Internet. Happy New Year, and have fun!
One of Chicago's newest New Year's parties, Chi-Town Rising will return for its second year to celebrate 2017--and it's free, but tickets are required. You can register for them online. Although its musical guests have not been announced yet, last year's party featured American Authors and, appropriately, Chicago.
Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming's solo side project, Diane Coffee, will ring in the New Year with two shows at Schubas Tavern on Dec. 30 and 31. Tickets range from $20 to $25, or you can hit both with a two-show pass for $40.
The Hood Internet, a Chicago duo known for perfecting the art of the mashup song, will play for New Year's at Lincoln Hall. Tickets start at $25, or $30 at the door.
