The Los Angeles Kings had a tough 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators at the STAPLES Center on Jan. 10. However even though the Kings faced a stiff challenge from Ottawa, there were some lighter moments prior to and during the game that were captured on Twitter.
Kings defenseman Drew Doughty had a microphone on for the Fox Sports West broadcast. He was very humorous with various commentary during the pregame.
Another Kings defenseman who was in a rather lighter mood was Jake Muzzin, who tapped his teammates on the head after Kyle Clifford scored the only Kings goal of the hockey game. It was a positive night for Kings defenseman Alec Martinez, who was playing in his first game since Dec. 8. Martinez had missed the last 14 games because of an upper body injury.
The Kings also had ESports night and recognized the very successful L.A. Valiant of the Overwatch League. Gamers of the Valiant attended the game. Also in attendance was the famous actor Tom Hanks, who received a visit from the Kings mascot Bailey. Hanks is one of only two actors ever to win the Academy Award for best actor two years in a row. He won for the movie "Philadelphia" in 1993 and "Forrest Gump" in 1994.
Here are the some of the best Kings tweets of the night. The Kings next home game is Jan. 12 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Staples Center. Get your tickets today!
Mic'd up Drew Doughty should be on permanent display at a museum 🤣— LA Kings (@LAKings) January 11, 2019
Which is better:
a) Doughty bragging about how he caught the gum that fell out of his mouth?
b) Doughty laughing at Kyle Clifford?
Watch it live all game long tonight on @FoxSportsWest!#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/60VdhySbWM
