The Los Angeles Kings found out just how impressive the Tampa Bay Lightning can be on Jan. 3. The Lightning got off to a fast start with three first period goals en route to a 6-2 win over the Kings at the Staples Center. Despite the loss, there were some memorable moments from the game, and many received attention on Twitter.
It was a memorable game for Kings veteran forward Dustin Brown, who played in his 1077th game with the Kings, which tied Luc Robitaille for the second most in franchise history. Only Dave Taylor, who has played in 1111 NHL regular season games has played more.
It was also a memorable night for former Kings play-by-play broadcaster Bob Miller. Fans in attendance received a Bob Miller mini statue. There was high praise for Austin Wagner's tremendous speed on his breakaway goal. His fourth of the season put the Kings on the board. Meanwhile, Kings defenseman Dion Phaneuf received the honor for being the best dressed King.
Still, at the end of the day, there is work to be done, and it is clear that Wagner is showing maturity for his age by recognizing that the Kings need to learn from their mistakes.

"We're going to watch video and learn from our mistakes. That's all we can do now. There's no point in dwelling on the game anymore. It's just learning what we did wrong, and we're going to do that." - Austin Wagner pic.twitter.com/DG9F1VyLLQ— LA Kings (@LAKings) January 4, 2019
