Billboard Music Awards 2019: Kelly Clarkson, Khalid and more announced as performers

The first round of 2019 Billboard Music Awards performers were announced today (April 9). NBC and dick clark productions shared the star-studded list which includes returning BBMA host Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Daigle, Khalid, Panic! At The Disco, and a collaboration from Sam Smith and Normani.

These superstars will hit the stage during the live BBMA ceremony which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, May 1. The three-hour musical event will also be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.

Clarkson is a five-time BBMA nominee. In 2018, she performed her hit song “Whole Lotta Woman” and hosted the show for the very first time. This year, she’ll perform her latest track and guide the live audience and viewers through the exciting evening.

Four-time 2019 BBMA nominee Panic! At The Disco will make their BBMA performance debut, along with Daigle, who is a two-time BBMA winner and a three-time nominee this year.

Khalid and Normani burned up the Billboard stage last year with a stunning collab of their smash hit “Love Lies.” Khalid won the Top New Artist BBMA last year and this year, he scored six more nods. This year, Normani snagged two BBMA nominations and she’ll join three-time BBMA winner Sam Smith to perform their new collab single “Dancing with a Stranger.” The 2019 ceremony will also mark Smith’s BBMA performance debut.

Lauren Daigle will perform in the wake of the crossover success of her chart-topping Hot Christian Songs single “You Say.” The track also hit the Top 40 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and cracked the Top 10 on the Adult Contemporary and Adult Pop Songs charts.

Through the years, the Billboard Music Awards has delivered some epic music performances from some of Billboard’s hottest stars. With this talented list of performers, 2019 is shaping up to be an explosive year for the BBMAs as well.

Last year, the BTS Army went wild when their beloved K-pop boyband swept the Top Social Artist Award. This year, BTS earned two more nods and is vying for a three-time winning streak for Top Social Artist as well as a Top Duo/Group award.
