Avant-garde artist Björk has revealed the release date and artwork for her upcoming album, Utopia. The singer has announced that the record will be released on Nov. 24 via One Little Indian Records.
Utopia marks Björk's ninth studio effort and first since 2015's Vulnicura, which also received a strings-based and live release the same year. Its title comes from the growing tension in today's sociopolitical climate, in which Björk has expressed the urgent need for change. She discussed the record in a Facebook Live event in September.
"We have Trump, we have Brexit, we have our issues in Iceland, we have our environmental issues," she said. "I think if there ever was an urgency or necessity to come up with another Utopian model, how we're going to live our lives, I think it's now, and (these are) my proposals."
The album's lead single, "The Gate," was released on September 12 and its accompanying video dropped the following week. Watch the striking visual above.
Björk was announced as a headlining act at the All Points East music festival in London next May. Also featuring headlining performances from LCD Soundsystem, Father John Misty and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the festival will take place in Victoria Park between May 25 and 27 of 2018. Tickets for the festival will be available on AXS.com beginning Thursday, Nov. 2 at 9 a.m. GMT.
