Although Black Sabbath played their final gig last month in their hometown of Birmingham, hardcore fans, which is pretty much everyone, might not have wanted to believe it. The first stage is denial. But it is all too true. The legendary rock band took to Facebook to post their final goodbyes, a simple epitaph that read, “Black Sabbath 1968-2017” with #The End. So if you had a chance to see Sabbath on their farewell tour, count yourself lucky. You can check out the Facebook post below.
Black Sabbath are far and away the godfathers of heavy metal. When the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward got together back in 1968 they had no idea that they were the progenitors of a new genre. 49 years and 19 studio albums later, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers had an amazing career and sparked the careers of countless others. We bid Black Sabbath a fond farewell. Goodnight, sweet princes of darkness.
