Rock veterans The Brian Jonestown Massacre are hitting the road for a 22-date North American tour this spring, which is scheduled to start on April 29 in Austin and running until May 27 with a final show at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. Included on the band’s spring tour itinerary is a previously announced stop at the rock-heavy Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta on May 4.
Over the month-long tour, the famous indie psych-rock band still fronted by Anton Newcombe will deliver performances at notable venues around the U.S. and Canada including Detroit’s Majestic Theatre, Seattle’s Showbox and Denver’s Gothic Theatre just to name a few. The band will also play a hometown show at San Francisco’s Bimbo’s 365 as the second-to-last stop on the tour.
Since forming back in the mid-1990s amongst the wave of post-grunge and alt-rock popularity that was soaring at the time, the Brian Jonestown Massacre have gained a national following thanks to being on the main subjects in the 2004 rocumentary “Dig!” Non-rock fans may also know the band’s sound, as their single "Straight Up and Down" was the song used as the opening titles music on the hit HBO series, “Boardwalk Empire.” More recently the group released a 14-track, mostly instrumentals LP titled Don’t Get Lost, which was released last year.
