Brooklyn Steel set to host Perfume Genius

Brooklyn Steel will play host to Perfume Genius on Tuesday, May 16 at 8 p.m. with special guest serpentwithfeet.

Perfume Genius, the project of Seattle-based singer-songwriter Mike Handreas, is out on the road promoting a recently released fourth full-length, No Shape. Handreas recorded the 13-track collection in California with producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, John Legend).

The album, was released on May 5 through Matador Records, andis supported by the singles “Slip Away” and “Go Ahead.”

The critically acclaimed third LP, Too Bright, released in September 2014, landed at No. 83 on the Billboard 200. The album, which was co-produced by Portishead’s Adrian Utley, is anchored by the singles “Queen” and “Grid.”

Sophomore effort, Put Your Back N 2 It, was released in February 2012 via Matador. The album is supported by four singles: “Hood,” “Dark Parts,” and “Take Me Home,” and “All Waters.”

Learning, the debut album from Perfume Genius, was released in June 2010 through Matador and includes the single “Mr. Peterson.”

Also on the bill is Baltimore-born, New York-based act serpentwithfeet, the eclectic music project from classical vocalist and composer Josiah White. His latest EP, Blisters, was released back in September 2016 via Tri Angle Records. The ambient collection, produced and mixed by The Haxan Cloak, features 5 tracks, including the lead single “Flickering.”

Tickets are $23 in advance, $26 day of show and are available here at $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the ACLU to support their work defending and protecting individual rights and liberties.
