BTS shows no signs of slowing down on their recent record-setting trek. The K-pop band have now reached a new summit as the music video for “Idol” has become the fastest video to exceed 100 million views on YouTube in 2018, Billboard reports.
The colorful, culturally-symbolic visual for Love Yourself: Answer’s lead single reportedly crested over the 100 million milestone marker on YouTube in just under six days. This notable feat comes after the “Idol” video previously set a record as the most-viewed video in the first 24 hours of its release. At the time of this writing, the video has logged over 121 million views and counting. Meanwhile, the track itself helped BTS set a chart record as the first K-pop band to score a Top 40 UK Singles Chart hit.
The boys of BTS, namely RM, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, Jin and Jungkook celebrate life, love and fame in the energetic, dance-driven “Idol” video. As RM points out in the song’s opening lines they can call him “artist” or “idol” or whatever they want and he’s “proud of it.”
The past week or so has given BTS plenty more reasons to be proud, including earning two Guinness World Records, one of which is for earning the Most Twitter Engagements (a record previously held by Harry Styles), which will be noted in the upcoming 2019 “Guinness Book of World Records.” On Oct. 6, BTS will also make history as the first Korean act to headline a U.S. stadium concert when they perform at Citi Field in Flushing, Queens New York.
What is it about BTS that makes them so irresistible? Members of the group’s loyal fan ARMY would likely answer everything, from their infectious energy, unique style, and cool dance moves to their steadfast dedication to keeping the hits coming to their fans. Love Yourself: Answer is the third album in BTS’ Love Yourself trilogy, which was preceded by their chart-topping second installment Love Yourself: Tear in May and launched by Love Yourself: Her EP which dropped back in September of 2017.
U.S. BTS ARMY members will get to see BTS perform live on the Love Yourself World Tour in multiple upcoming shows. The band will perform at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California for four non-consecutive nights on Sept. 5 (Tickets), Sept. 6. (Tickets), Sept. 8 (Tickets), and Sept. 9 (Tickets).
