An actor making the crossover to a musician? Stranger things have happened. Most fans of the hit Netflix sci-fi series “Stranger Things” know that Finn Wolfhard--who plays Mike Wheeler and has the coolest name ever--is also an aspiring musician.
While the multi-talented 15-year-old has cut his teeth on the music side of the entertainment world by starring in and co-directing music videos, he’s just as at home behind a microphone as he is in front of a camera. And with his new band Calpurnia, Wolfhard is ready to show the world that he’s just as at home in front of a live audience.
"I like to get it done as quickly as I can,” Wolfhard said about launching his new project. “There's not a lot of wasting time. I love just going for it. Go big or go home."
Calpurnia is definitely not going home. The teenage four-piece--consisting of fellow Vancouver natives Ayla Tesler-Mabe (guitar), Jack Anderson (bass) and Malcolm Craig (drums), as well as Wolfhard on guitar and lead vocals--is set to play the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on June 23. You can find ticket info on AXS by clicking here.
Calpurnia recently signed with Royal Mountain Records and are set to release their debut EP later this spring. You can check out the band’s visual for their original song “City Boy,” produced by Twin Peaks frontman Cadien Lake James and captured on video by Whitney bassist Josiah Marshall, above.
Along with the Fonda show, Calpurnia will also be playing a few other select dates in support of the EP. You can find a complete list of Calpurnia dates below.
