Celtic Thunder announce 2018 North American Tour

Irish vocal group known as Celtic Thunder have revealed their lengthy North American tour plans to help promote their latest studio album, Celtic Thunder X. The album’s title and the tour’s theme celebrate 10 years of the singing group, having been formed in Ireland back in 2007. The 75-show tour will start on Sept. 12 in Hartford, Conn. and plans on keeping the five singing Irishmen awfully busy until the end of the year with a final performance at the North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center in the South Carolina coastal city on Dec. 21.

The group stopped by Billboard’s New York offices last week in full performance costume to deliver some of the tunes from their new album for a small, private audience. The band made up of vocalists Damian McGinty, Ryan Kelly, Michael O'Dwyer, Emmet Cahill and Neil Byrne, will return to New York on Sept. 29 with a performance at the city’s Beacon Theatre. Other notable stops on the band’s fall-into-winter North American trek include shows at Pennsylvania’s Keswick Theatre (Sept. 21), Denver’s Paramount Denver (Nov. 24) and Kansas City’s Arvest Bank Theatre the following evening (Nov. 25).

“Something we’re really proud about with this particular show is that it’s an homage to where we’re from and what we’ve done,” longtime member Damian McGinty told AXS in a 2016 interview. McGinty had joined the production when he was 14-years-old, and took a few years off from Celtic Thunder in 2011, returning to its lineup in 2015. “Touring is an interesting experience. Every day you get to travel to a new and different city, but every night you have to do the same task --deliver a high standard of performance. So on a daily basis, it’s never the same, but at the same time, you have to continue to challenge yourself.”

Tickets for select shows on the upcoming run will go on sale to the public starting next Friday, March 30, and can be purchased by clicking here.
