Christopher Cross has announced a sprawling 2019 tour in support of his latest album Take Me As I Am, with more than two dozen shows in four months. It's an ambitious tour, taking the singer and songwriter coast to coast, and music fans will want to join him on his journey. Fans can get tickets to see Christopher Cross live this spring here at AXS.
Cross released Take Me As I Am last year; it's his 15th studio album. He's also recently dropped lyric videos for a number of songs; you can watch the video for "When You Come Home" by playing the video above. This is the latest chapter in a career that's spanned 40 years; Cross signed his first solo contract with Warner Bros. Records back in 1978.
Since then, his distinctive voice has continued to enchant pop fans for decades. Cross won five Grammy Awards for his self-titled debut album, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. That record contained his best-known song "Sailing," which earned Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Arrangement honors at the 1980 Grammys.
His other hits include "Ride Like The Wind" and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", the latter of which earned him an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award because it was written for the movie Arthur. In total, Cross has sold roughly nine million albums around the world.
It's rare that an artist can sustain a career for 40 years, but that's exactly what Christopher Cross has been able to do with his earnest brand of singer-songwriter pop. He's carved out his own place in music history with just his guitar and a voice that can make any music fan forget their troubles.
His 2019 tour is bigger than many other artists would even dare, but it's clear he still loves performing for live audiences. And there's a lot for live audiences to love about him because he just makes good music and sings it from the heart. Pop fans should definitely make time to enjoy Christopher Cross in person, especially with 36 new opportunities ensuring that he's performing in almost every major market.
