Chromeo announce North American tour, share new song with The-Dream

The funklordz themselves are headed back out on the road. The electro-funk duo known as Chromeo announced the first leg of their upcoming world tour on Monday, with a lengthy batch of North American shows (with a few European gigs sprinkled in) scheduled to start on April 3 in Vancouver and running well into the summer before ending on July 3 in Toronto. The spring-into-summer tour includes previously announced performances at festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Firefly and Spain’s Primavera Sound, in addition to a co-headlining gig at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with The Glitch Mob on June 28.

The dance-friendly duo also took the opportunity to use Monday’s tour announcement to share a new single. Titled “Bedroom Calling,” their new track features a vocal cameo from The-Dream, and follows 2017’s “Juice” as the second single scheduled to appear on their upcoming album, Head Over Heels. As of Monday the album has to set release date, but with David "Dave 1" Macklovitch and Patrick "P-Thugg" Gemayel gearing up to hit the road for what should be a year’s worth of shows, fans should assume that the new LP could arrive sometime this spring or early summer.

The glistening new dance track can be heard in the audio-only video above, and does a wonderful job of mixing the band’s traditional synth-heavy sound with a shine and solid modern drum beat. Macklovitch usually handles the vocal responsibilities on most of Chromeo’s material, but it’s pretty refreshing to hear The-Dream handle most of the lyrical content this time around.

"We've been obsessed with The-Dream since 'Fast Car' from his first album. To us, he's a modern day funk auteur, like Prince or El Debarge. This song pays homage to our favorite work of his," Macklovitch said about the new collaboration.

Notable stops on the band’s upcoming tour include stops at New York’s Terminal 5 and Detroit’s Royal Oak Music Theatre just to name a few. Tickets for select shows on the upcoming tour will be going on sale to the public starting this Friday, Feb. 2, and can be purchased by clicking here.
