Citizen Cope is about to release his first album in seven years in March, and he's celebrating in the biggest possible way: by unveiling a massive 2019 tour with more than two dozen new concerts. Fans can get tickets to see Citizen Cope live beginning Dec. 6 here at AXS.
The Heroin and Helicopters Tour is named after his sixth studio album, Heroin and Helicopters, which he announced in November. The record is his first release since 2012's One Lovely Day and will contain eleven new songs; the lead single is an optimistic ballad about the current state of the world called "Justice" which you can listen to by playing the video above.
Whenever an artist takes a long break from touring and recording, the natural question is what kind of performer they're going to be when they return. Based on the sound of "Justice," the only thing that's changed about Citizen Cope is that his songs have gotten even deeper and are pushing even farther into some universal themes. According to Music News Net, Heroin and Helicopters has a number of deep themes, including religion, politics, the entertainment world and his search for spiritual enlightenment in all of the above.
Topics like those are why Citizen Cope has remained popular for all these years. He's a social commentator and philosopher who shares his point of view through music, encouraging audiences not only to enjoy the songs but to think a little deeper. His new music on the way sounds like some of his most thought-provoking yet, and the 2019 tour will be fans' first opportunities to hear it live; especially since the tour starts on the same day the album drops - March 1.
AXS is ticketing a number of shows on the Heroin and Helicopters Tour, including that opening night. Audiences can snag tickets to Citizen Cope's first performance of his new album, or additional concerts on this tour that will undoubtedly be poignant and memorable. After all, this album release is a milestone for him and he'll be celebrating it with live audiences around the country.
