Classic rock legends Kansas reveal 'Point of Know Return' 40th anniversary tour

Kansas are headed out on tour this fall in celebration of their 1977 Point of Know Return album. The 40th anniversary tour was announced by the classic rock group on Monday, and includes a total of 24 total shows across North America which are scheduled to start on Sept. 28 in Atlanta and run until Dec. 15 with a final gig in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The upcoming run of concerts throughout the fall months will look to pick up right where the band leaves off from their current tour, which is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their 1976 Leftoverture LP.

According to the lengthy announcement post shared to the famous prog-rock band’s Facebook page on Monday (see below) the fall tour will be the first time in their history that they’ll be performing Point of Know Return in its entirety. Many older rock fans will remember the album’s arrival in the fall of 1977, thanks to its famous second single and ballad, “Dust in the Wind.” As the band’s post points out, Point of Know Return would go on to sell over six million copies, becoming their highest selling album and providing a trio of singles which landed on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart.

“After a long tour in support of ‘Leftoverture,’ we have a lot more confidence as to what we can do,” drummer and co-founding member Phil Ehart told Billboard. “The fans will get to hear stuff that we don't normally play, from both our deep cuts and the album. If you're a Kansas fan you'll hear something that you'll probably like.”

Ehart is one of the two members from the original lineup still touring under the Kansas banner, alongside guitarist Rich Williams. The band will be fronted by Ronnie Platt, who has been singing with Kansas throughout their Leftoverture anniversary tour following the retirement of original vocalist Steve Walsh back in 2014.

“I often joke that I cannot be in charge of putting together a set list, because there are too many songs that I really want to perform,” Platt also added in the announcement. “These shows, though, will be about as close as it gets.”

Tickets to select concerts on the upcoming tour will be going on sale to the public starting March 23, and can be purchased by clicking here.
