Colorado Symphony suits up for another 'Symphonic Tribute to Comic Con'

The Colorado Symphony is tightening their bow stings; not because they're preparing to defend Helm's Deep from an army of Orcs, but rather to bring the exciting and thrilling music of video games and pop culture to life once more.

Officially titled "A Symphonic Tribute to Comic Con: The Tetralogy," the concert comes three months before the sixith annual Denver Comic Con. Attendees of the concert are encouraged to bring the whole family and come in their favorite cosplay, giving fans the perfect opportunity to "test drive" their DCC wardrobe. The Colorado Symphony's nerd-tastic concert will take place over two nights, March 24-25 at the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver. They will also bring the music of "Pokémon" to life during their "Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions" performance March 9 (more events listed below).

This year's tribute will see the orchestra pair-up with the Colorado Symphony Chorus to bring the sounds of popular movies and video games to life. The concert will feature songs from the popular and immersive concert series Video Games Live and a wide arrangement of soundtracks. Fans will hear popular tunes from series such as "Jurassic Park," "Harry Potter," and — of course — "Star Wars."

Gaming’s Eclectic Outspoken Maestro” and award-winning composer Austin Wintory will conduct his latest score from the underwater gaming masterpiece "Abzû" and violinist Sandy Cameron will join him for a concerto performance of "Assassin’s Creed Syndicate."

The concert series continues to be a favorite among fans and even members of the orchestra.

"I always love playing our Comic Con concerts every season since they feature the music of super heroes," said the Symphony's Principal Harp Courtney Hershey Bress. "Some of my favorite movies are based on super heroes. If I got the chance to be one for the day I would be Batman."
