Southland comedy fans are in for a treat early next year. On Jan. 20, comedian Jo Koy will be performing a show at Santa Barbara, Calif.’s own Arlington Theatre. Tickets for this sure to be sidesplitting show are on sale now.
The Tacoma, Wash.-hailing Jo Koy, born Joseph Glenn Herbert, began his career in comedy in the mid-‘90s as a college student. While attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Koy made the risky decision to drop out and try his hand at standup comedy.
After making a name for himself in Las Vegas comedy scene, Koy got a foothold in the larger entertainment world by making his debut television appearance on BET’s “Comic View.” Capitalizing on that early buzz, Jo went on to make acclaimed performances on VH1’s “I Love…” series and Tru TV's “World's Dumbest” program. He has since gone on to be a regular presence on “The Adam Corolla Show” and released his third standup special, “Jo Koy: Live in Seattle” was released on Netflix in March of this year.
