How do I get to Rodeo Houston? Is there any way to avoid a huge traffic jam?

Traffic in Houston is always heavy – and it will only be worse for this kind of huge event. Therefore, it’s a good idea to use public transportation to get to NRG Park. Houston METRO has several lines that stop near the park, including light rail. The Red Line stop at the Stadium/Astrodome is a good route. Or, if you’d prefer to take a bus, Route 84 runs along Kirby Drive and can take you to the park.

NRG Park and Stadium are one of Houston’s main entertainment hubs. As such, lots of hotels are nearby. If you stay in one of them during your HLSR visit, it will shorten your commute to the event. Many lodging options are near 1-610 South Loop and northward, by the intersection of Kirby Drive and Old Spanish Trail.

What is the weather like during the rodeo?

Temperatures are usually mild – somewhere in the ‘60s – in Houston. This means you probably won’t need a heavy jacket at Rodeo Houston. And, a lot of events will take place indoors. However, unexpected weather events happen all the time. So, you should check the forecast before you go and layering or bringing a light jacket helps ensure you’re ready for anything during outdoor activities.

Besides concerts, food, and rodeo competitions, what else is there to do at Rodeo Houston?

The live music performances and rodeo competitions are always exciting at HLSR. There’s also a lot of other ways to have fun. Kids of all ages can enjoy carnival rides, games, and special exhibits at The Junction. You can also learn more about agriculture at Agreventure, visit the Wine Garden, go shopping, and visit the Ranching and Wildlife Expo.
