June is when the Red Rocks season really ramps up, and the lineup for the first month of summer is impressive. From singer-songwriter legends to jam juggernauts, electronic acts and hip-hop heroes, you can’t really go wrong with summer nights at Red Rocks this June. There are sure to be some epic performances as the majestic setting tends to facilitate the very best from any artist or band. Here at AXS we’re here to keep you up to speed on the action at Red Rocks this June.
Chromeo and Rüfüs du Sol get June started off right with a dance party on June 1, followed up the next day by the killer combination of Colorado’s own funk masters The Motet and the old school hip-hop flavor of Jurassic 5. The party doesn’t stop with jam veterans The Disco Biscuits on June 3. They call him the Mark Twain of music; singer-songwriter legend John Prine will complete one hell of an opening weekend on The Rocks.
Mid-June features some great electronic acts in Marshmello on June 11 and Gramatik on June 17, or check out classic rock legends Chicago and The Doobie Brothers on June 13. Songsmith Ryan Adams will be backed by ace bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters when he graces the Red Rocks stage June 20 ahead of the record-holding (for the most consecutive Red Rocks sell-outs) southern jammers Widespread Panic for a three-night run June 23-25. A killer bill of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Common and En Vogue bring you back to the 90s on June 27.
Still crazy after all these years, the incomparable Paul Simon plays June 28. The majestic setting of Red Rocks is a cosmic place to take in classical music, and it doesn’t get much more cosmic than The Colorado Symphony playing The Planets and Mozart’s Jupiter on June 29. Back to the jams, Umphrey’s McGee kicks off a three-night run June 30 to close out an amazing June. Check out the complete Red Rocks June calendar below.
