Dark Tranquillity announce fall tour with Amorphis

Sweden’s reigning melodic death metal titans Dark Tranquillity will return to North America later this year for a co-headlining jaunt with Finnish progressive metal outfit Amorphis. The tour, which will take place throughout September and October, will also feature support from special guests Moonspell and Omnium Gatherum.

The month-long trek kicks off at Gramercy Theater in New York City on Sept. 7 and hits select markets in the United States and Canada before wrapping up on Oct. 14 at Upstage Concert Hall in Clifton Park, N.Y. Tickets are on sale now.

Dark Tranquillity, one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene, are touring in continued support of their eleventh studio long-player, Atoma, which emerged back in November 2016 through Century Media Records. The 12-track collection, which hit No. 2 on the Swedish Albums chart, is anchored by lead single “The Pitiless.”

Amorphis are set to release their thirteenth LP, Queen of Time, on May 18 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album’s first single is expected to drop in the coming weeks. Under The Red Cloud, the six-piece band’s latest full-length, debuted at No. 144 on the Billboard 200 following its release in September 2015.
