Dave Chappelle and John Mayer remember Charlie Murphy at Mayer's concert in Columbus (watch)

Many were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of comedian Charlie Murphy on April 12. At just 57, Murphy lost his battle with leukemia. Many will remember Murphy from his work with fellow comedian Dave Chappelle on “The Chappelle Show” in great skits like Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories where Chappelle, Murphy and company would recreate wild stories Murphy had experienced in Hollywood with his brother Eddie Murphy involving stars like Rick James and Prince. Our thoughts go out to the Murphy family.

The same day Charlie passed, John Mayer—longtime friend and collaborator of Dave Chappelle—was playing in Columbus, Ohio where he welcomed Dave Chappelle onstage. After exchanging pleasantries, the two friends banter together and reminisce about Charlie Murphy. Although the outing is light hearted, Chappelle remarks to Mayer “Everybody in comedy is heartbroken. So John, you’re a sight for sore eyes.” Chappelle then requests Mayer’s song “You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me” as a tribute to Murphy. You can check out fan shot footage of Chappelle and Mayer remembering Murphy above.
