Dave Chappelle and Kendrick Lamar join Rihanna's Diamond Ball

Rihanna’s black-tie Diamond Ball is returning for its third year in New York City this September, and the ANTI singer has recruited showbiz buddies Dave Chappelle and Kendrick Lamar to join the night’s festivities.

The fundraising gala will be hosted by jokester Dave Chappelle, who has re-emerged back into the entertainment spotlight over the past year. The comedian made an impromptu appearance at The Roots Picnic in New York City last fall where he appeared on stage prior to D’Angelo’s headlining set.

Kendrick Lamar is also set to perform at the event, which will be held at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan's Financial District. Lamar had been joined by Rihanna on the track “Loyalty” for his latest hit album, Damn. Money raised at the gala will go towards Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation. The non-profit helps to provide education and health programs in countries around the world.

"I’m thrilled that the incomparable Dave Chappelle will kick things off as the official host of this year’s Diamond Ball and Kendrick Lamar will take the stage for an unforgettable performance,” Rihanna said in a statement. “I’m proud of the Clara Lionel Foundation’s significant impact in the world over the years and deeply grateful for the continued support and commitment to advancing our mission.”

Chappelle may use his hosting duties to prepare for his return to performing next month, with some upcoming scheduled shows in Denver at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Bellco Theatre in mid-July. Tickets for the three shows can be purchased by clicking here. Kendrick's upcoming North American summer tour is also set to kick off next month on July 12.
