Legendary singer/songwriter, Dave Matthews, will perform a special charity concert as part of Verizon's new "Pay It Forward Live," tonight at 8/7c. The series, which will air weekly, will raise relief funds for small businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
With the current state of the world, nearly all live events have been placed on hold and the need for social distancing is leaving many artists at home in an effort to help flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, Matthews will be performing in an extra special arena, his home.
“Small businesses are being impacted in extraordinary ways as we all fight against the spread of COVID-19,” said Verizon’s chairman-CEO, Hans Vestberg, in a statement. “These companies provide employment opportunities, goods, services, and gathering places that are the soul of local communities. ‘Pay it Forward Live’ will give all Americans an opportunity to help their favorite small businesses survive this unprecedented hardship.”
Verizon will eventually donate a total of $5 million to the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. Fans and viewers are encouraged to share and tag friends to help spread awareness for the series and make contributions.
LISC will allocate funds to provide grants (up to $10,000) to "businesses facing immediate financial pressure because of COVID-19, especially entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses and other enterprises that don’t have access to flexible, affordable capital in historically underserved communities.”
Be sure to tune in and help spread the word when the series airs live on Thursday, March 26 at 8/7c
