Deftones tease new album on Instagram

In news that will delight heavy metal fans, it seems that Deftones are working on a new album.

As reported by NME on March 28, the band took Instagram to let fans know that they were back in the studio jamming. As of this writing, the group hasn’t offered up any other details about what might be their ninth studio album, but they have recently entered a period of increased activity.

Earlier this month, Cure frontman Robert Smith revealed that he tapped Deftones to perform at this year’s Meltdown festival alongside other alternative rock luminaries like Nine Inch Nails and My Bloody Valentine. Additionally, the band announced that they’ll be playing at the Vivo X El Rock festival in Peru this May.

Deftones last album was 2016’s Gore, which debuted to strong reviews and the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 Album chart. As such it was the band’s highest charting record since 2006’s Saturday Night Wrist.
