Genre-blending multi-instrumentalist group DeVotchKa will ring in the New Year with two hometown shows at Denver’s Bluebird Theater on Dec. 30 & 31. Colorado favorites The Sweet Lillies will act as support. You can find ticket info for both shows below.
DeVotchka is fresh on the heels of completing an extensive summer and fall tour around their latest album, The Night Falls Forever. DeVotchKa frontman Nick Urata was sent on the journey toward the new album after a chance mishap at a big show in Mexico City when his mic malfunctioned. “You try not to make a big deal out of it, but you don’t recover from that for the rest of the show,” Urata said in a statement.
The incident got the songwriter thinking about his past and also about his future, which led to many of the songs on the new album. Any art worth its salt uses the past to connect to the present but also to look toward the future, which is what DeVotchKa achieves with The Night Falls Forever.
Celebrate the New Year with DeVotchKa and The Sweet Lillies when they come to the Bluebird Theater Dec. 30 & 31.
