DFW originals, the Eli Young Band, just released their brand-new album Fingerprints on June 16. The band, which formed in Denton, Texas, still features the same four guys who launched it back in 2000 while attending the University of North Texas. Fingerprints is Eli Young Band’s sixth studio album and the follow-up to their No. 1 hit album 10,000 Towns.

While the Eli Young Band got their start in the DFW area as a local favorite, they hit it big thanks to their third album, Jet Black & Jealous, an album that peaked at No. 5 on the country charts. Their next two albums, Life at Best and 10,000 Towns, both hit the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 charts at No. 6 and No. 5 respectively.

The first single released from Fingerprints was “Saltwater Gospel,” a track that has peaked at No. 42 on the U.S. country charts and the Eli Young Band has to hope to find another track that resonates as well as former No. 1 hits “Crazy Girl,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and “Drunk Last Night.” All three of those songs went platinum or better upon their release.

It had been three years since Eli Young Band released 10,000 Towns and Fingerprints contains songs that singer Mike Eli says he thinks the fans gravitate to. Their new single, “Skin & Bones,” is an example of that. There is a total of 11 new songs on Fingerprints and song themes include faith, soulmates, homesickness and their own inner children.

The Eli Young Band is always playing somewhere and will next hit the DFW area for a concert at Billy Bob’s Texas for their Fourth of July bash.
