Legendary R&B artist Diana Ross will be performing at the BMO Harris Pavilion in Milwaukee, Wisc. on July 14, 2017. Ross will not be at Summerfest 50, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary, but she will perform at the beautiful pavilion at Henry Meier Festival Park five days after "The Largest Music Festival in the World" wraps for the year. Diana Ross will be bringing her "In the Name of Love Tour" to Milwaukee, performing at the 5,000 seat BMO Harris Pavilion with the beautiful backdrop of Lake Michigan.
Diana Ross ascended to fame at the lead singer for Motown's group of female singers The Supremes. Ross, along with Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard, signed with Motown in 1961 and soared to fame as the most successful female group in pop history, according the the biography on the Motown website. The Supremes hits include "Where Did Our Love Go," "Baby Love," "Back In My Arms Again," "Stop, In the Name of Love," "Come See About Me," "You Can't Hurry Love," "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone," "Love Child," and "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me."
Ross left the Supremes and went solo in 1970, according to her bio on the Motown website. Her first solo release was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." She also starred in movies, including the story of R&B singer Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues in 1972 and in Mahogany in 1974. Mahogany delivered her third No. 1 record, “Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To).”
In 2016, Motown released the album Diana Ross Sings Songs From The Wiz. The album had been made after filming "The Wiz" with Michael Jackson and Richard Pryor, but had been shelved.
