Ed Sheeran is joining the star-studded 2018 Billboard Music Awards performer lineup, per a dick clark productions and NBC announcement. The international pop superstar will reportedly take a break from his world tour to deliver a special BBMA performance on location from Dublin, Ireland. Fellow BBMAs nominees Zedd and Maren Morris will take the BBMAs stage with Grey to deliver a TV debut performance of their smash hit single “The Middle.”
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards ceremony is being held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20. The television broadcast will air at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC. Three-time Grammy-winning songstress Kelly Clarkson is slated to host this year’s exciting extravaganza. Sheeran, Zedd, Morris and Grey join previously announced BBMAs performers Janet Jackson (who will receive the 2018 Icon Award), duet partners Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato, show-opening artist Ariana Grande, a Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue reunion, BTS, Camila Cabello, Billboard Icon Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes and more.
Ed Sheeran is one of this year’s leading nominees, scoring a total of 15 nominations (which ties with Kendrick Lamar). The British native singer-songwriter is nominated for Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for ÷ (Divide), Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Hot 100 Song for “Shape of You,” among others. The “Perfect” singer smashed multiple records with his Grammy-winning third studio album, including cresting past 50 weeks in the Billboard 200 Top 20, to currently hold 61 weeks and counting on the chart.
The Zedd, Morris and Grey collab hit “The Middle” topped charts in multiple countries including Billboard’s U.S. Adult Top 40, U.S. Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and U.S. Mainstream Top 40 charts.
