Ella Mai announces Boo'd Up Tour

When Ella Mai went into the studio to record “Boo’d Up,” it is perfectly fine to believe that she didn’t expect the song to blow up in popularity.

Besides, her previous three singles, while all stellar slices of neo-British R&B, had failed to hit the charts anywhere, so, the odds of “Boo’d Up,” her fourth single, had some pretty low expectations. The thing about low expectations is that it leaves room for shock and awe, both for the artist and the listener.

When the single was released in April, It became a magnet for success on this side of the Atlantic. The track reached the top of the R&B singles and Airplay charts and just missed out on the same position on the Adult R&B chart. While the infectious tune was doing damage on Billboard’s R&B charts, the single was also having a field day on the Hot 100, where it topped out (currently) at No. 6.

“Boo’d Up” is a great introduction to a singer that has long deserved to have this success, and after the charm effects of “Boo’d Up” wears off, it would be worth the wild of many of Mai’s new fans to check out her earlier singles, which are just as magnificent in its flavorful splendor.

Mai will take to the road on the Boo’d Up Tour, which is already selling out dates, further signalling that this British R&B diva has truly found her footing in today’s fluctuating musical landscape.
