Elvis Costello and his longtime backup band, the Imposters, are headed to the New York metro area for a three-night run of concerts at Brooklyn Steel and Port Chester’s historic Capitol Theatre next month. The band announced the trio of shows earlier this week, stating that they plan on including “many of the finest and some of the newest songs from Elvis Costello’s remarkable repertoire, all framed by The Imposters renowned rock and soul rave-ups,” according to Costello’s Facebook page.
The three shows will take place on March 7-9, leading off with New York City’s new industrial concert mecca Brooklyn Steel on March 7, followed by a pair of gigs just north of the big apple in Port Chester on March 8-9. As of Thursday afternoon, the upcoming shows are the only scheduled Elvis Costello gigs set to take place in North America in 2018, following some recently canceled performances in Las Vegas due to an unfolding scandal around casino and resort mogul Steve Wynn. Costello and company are still scheduled to head overseas for a summer tour around the U.K. and Europe starting in mid-June, but as for his plans for performing in the U.S., the three March concerts appear to be the only North American plans for the time being.
Costello hasn’t released any of his own new material since his last solo album, National Ransom, arrived back in the fall of 2010. More recently, he teamed up with late night rockers The Roots for a funky collaborative studio project in 2013 titled Wise Up Ghost. Costello will also be one of the featured artists set to transform the poetry of the late Johnny Cash into music on a star-studded tribute album titled Forever Words. A video about the upcoming compilation album was shared to Costello’s Facebook page on Thursday morning, and can be watched below.
Tickets to the three upcoming shows will be going on sale to the public starting Friday, Feb. 9, and can be purchased by clicking here.
