Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Austin at a family-friendly event as 2017 turns into 2018. Austin’s New Year 2018 at Auditorium Shores will be a family-friendly, alcohol-free event that will conclude with a fireworks finale at 10 p.m. There will also be daytime events, specially designed to be fun for children on New Year’s Eve.

Ring in the New Year at the family-friendly, alcohol-free celebration at Auditorium Shores, where there will be entertainment for the entire family. The festivities will include music, art, fireworks, and food trucks. Admission will be free. There will be musical entertainment on three stages, with a lineup that will include Brownout, Ian Moore Band, Tomar and the FCs, Magna Carda, Charlie Faye & The Fayettes, Money Chicha, The Watters, Jane Ellen Bryant, Kalu & The Electric Joint, and James Junius. A show of fireworks will light the skies at 10 p.m.

Take the family to the Austin Zoo for a day of fun. A visit to the zoo is a great way to get some exercise by taking a leisurely walk while learning about animals and wildlife. Admission is $8-$11 through Dec. 31, but ticket prices will increase on Jan. 1. The zoo is currently accepting donations of used Christmas trees, with all tinsel, lights, and metal ornament hangers removed. The trees will be used for animal enrichment and can be dropped off at the zoo gift shop.
