Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Columbus at a family-friendly event that will ring in the New Year as 2017 turns into 2018. The big event of the evening will be First Night Columbus, which will offer a variety of fun and entertainment for kids and adults.

First Night Columbus will be a family-friendly event, an alcohol-free celebration that will feature kid-friendly activities, music, movies, the arts, and more. Admission will be $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event.

The entire family will be fascinated with the movies Flying Monsters 3D and Tiny Giants 3D. The movies will be part of First Night Columbus and will be an additional cost.

The COSI Planetarium will offer a glimpse of the incredible universe, with the new Digistar 5 projection system and the 60-foot dome. There will be 5 shows, each 22 minutes long, exploring the sky in central Ohio. Spacepark360 is a state-of-the-art movie shown on the fulldome systems, allowing the audience to experience thrill rides in the universe. This First Night Columbus activity is an additional cost.

Wildlights at Columbus Zoo & Aquarium

Ohio State Chinese Lantern Festival

The Chinese Lantern Festival is a stunning celebration of lights and culture, created by artisans from China. About 35 Chinese lantern installations and around15,000 colorful LED lights decorate the grounds. Guests will be entertained by with nightly performances of acrobatics, martial arts demonstrations, Mongolian and Tibetan-style dancing, Chinese face-changing, and plate spinning. Admission is $10-$15.

The entire family will enjoy the holiday exhibit at the Franklin Park Conservancy, including seasonal flowers and the Paul Busse model railway. Gardens Aglow will be included with regular admission ($7-$14).
