For nearly 30 years the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico has played host to the most extravagant birthday event of the year. This legendary party is for none other than the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar.
This year Hagar celebrated his monumental 70th birthday, which is on Oct. 13, during a four-night bash in Cabo from Oct. 9-14. The party included an all-star jam session with special performances from Toby Keith, Chad Kroeger (Nickelback), Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC), Eddie Money, Vinnie Paul (Pantera), The Circle’s Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, Vic Johnson and more. There will also be a special appearance from chef Guy Fieri.
"I've been celebrating my birthday in Cabo for almost 30 years, and I couldn't begin to pick a favorite year," Hagar said in a release. "I've had hundreds of friends who've come down to perform and party. Each year is packed with so many insane collaborations and moments that I'm just happy that the rest of the world can finally get in – and celebrate alongside us as it unfolds on the big screen."
Registration for this annual event is always limited, given the small amount of space in the cantina. Those who were unable to attend and missed AXS TV's coverage are in luck. Fathom Events will be bringing the birthday bash to select US theaters with "Red Til I'm Dead: Sammy Hagar's Rock-n-Roll Birthday Bash," screening Dec. 5. The hour and a half flick will include performances from this year's bash, footage from the four-night party and special behind-the-scenes material focusing on the Red Rocker himself.
“Sammy’s parties in Cabo have become legendary, with a lottery system determining which fans receive the incredibly-limited tickets,” said Fathom Events VP of Programming Kymberli Frueh in a release. “We are pleased to partner with AXS to give ‘Redheads’ nationwide the opportunity to join the party from their local movie theater.”
Tickets for screenings are on sale now and available at Fathom Events website or the box office of select theaters.
