Five must-see artists at Arroyo Seco Weekend 2017

The inaugural Arroyo Seco Weekend music festival is being held in Pasadena, California on June 24-25, 2017.  The splashy new  summer festival will be held at Brookside Golf Club, near the Rose Bowl.

Arroyo Seco Weekend is from Goldenvoice, the same promoters who put on the prestigious Coachella and Desert Trip. The promoters are aiming at multiple generations, with high-end food and a music line-up that will attract different demographics, according to the Los Angeles Times. The mainstream draws are headliners Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Mumford & Sons. Roots and Americana heritage acts include the Meters, William Bell, and John Mayall. Younger artists include Broken Social Scene, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Andrew Bird.  Actor Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra will also perform jazz.

Following are the top five artists that should be on your must-see list at Arroyo Seco Weekend.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
Set Time: Sat., June 24  at 8:30 p.m. – The Oaks Stage

This famous classic rock band has been making hits and performing music since the 1970s. They are currently on their 40th Anniversary Tour, according to the Tom Petty &The Heartbreakers website. Enjoy the hit songs at this headlining performance, including “Mary Jane’s Last Dance," “American Girl,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” Free Fallin’,” “Don’t Come Around Her No More,” I Won’t Back Down,” “Refugee,” ”You Don’t Know How It Feels,” and “Yer So Bad.”  Catch this rock legend while you have the chance. 
If you can’t see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at Arroyo Seco Weekend, you can catch them at Forest Hills Stadium on July 26 in Queens, N.Y. 

Alabama Shakes
Set Time: Sat., June 24 at 6:50 p.m. – The Oaks Stage

Alabama Shakes, fronted by lead singer and guitarist Brittany Howard, will perform at Arroyo Seco Weekend on June 24. Alabama Shakes debut album, Boys and Girls, earned them three Grammy nominations in 2012, including a nod for Best New Artist, according to the Grammy website. The band’s 2016 album Sound & Color, won three Grammy Awards in 2016, including Best Alternative Music Album. The song “Don’t Wanna Fight” won Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.
If you are unable to see Alabama Shakes at Arroyo Seco Weekend, you can catch them at Palace Theatre in Albany, N.Y. on Aug. 1.

Mumford & Sons
Set Time: Sun. June 25 at 8:45 p.m. 0 The Oaks Stage

The British folk/rock group will follow Weezer on the Oaks stage. The band has been nominated for several Grammy Awards and won the Grammy for Album of the Year for Babel and Best Long Form Music Video for “Big Easy Express.” They currently have two dates scheduled in the U.S. and then they will travel to Great Britain and Europe to plays at festivals, according to the Mumford & Sons website. This headlining band should definitely be on your ‘must-see’ list for Arroyo Seco Weekend. 
If you can’t see them at Arroyo, perhaps you will be able to see Mumford & Sons at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on June 24.

Set Time: Sun., June 25 at 7 p.m. - The Oaks Stage

The Grammy-nominated Rock band Weezer will be touring the U.S. this summer, according to the Weezer website.  They will take their “Feels Like Summer” tour to Europe this fall.
If you can’t see Weezer at Arroyo Seco Weekend, perhaps you can catch them at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Del. on June 16.

The Shins
Set Time: Sun, June 25 at 7:50 p.m. - Sycamore Stage

The Shins are currently touring North America in one of their largest tours in years. Their excellent new album Heartworm, featuring the song “Name For You” is now available.
If you aren’t able to catch The Shins at Arroyo Seco Weekend, perhaps you can see them at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Del. on June 18; or at Agora Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio on July 19; or at King County’s Marymoor Park in Redmond, Wash. on Sept. 23.
