Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s hit collab single “Meant to Be” continues its reign atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart (for the week ending Oct. 6) and this feat helps FGL make chart history. The single hails from Rexha’s third EP All Your Fault: Pt. 2 and debut album Expectations and scores its 44th week at No. 1.
This extended chart lead makes Florida Georgia line the first act in music history to top the Hot Country Songs chart for 100 cumulative career weeks, Billboard reports. The Hot Country Songs reportedly measures airplay, sales and streaming. The award-winning country duo, consisting of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have six No. 1 hits which contribute to their milestone 100-week chart-topping tally.
The chart-topping singles break down as follows: “Cruise” topped the chart for 24 weeks in 2012 and 2013. “Stay” added another six weeks to the tally in 2013 and 2014. The Luke Bryan collab “This is How We Roll” added six more weeks in 2014. “Dirt” followed for two more chart-topping weeks the same year. “H.O.L.Y.” made a No. 1 run for 18 weeks in 2016 and now “Meant to Be’s” 44-week chart-topping streak brings Florida Georgia Line to their history-making 100-week Hot Country Songs chart-topping career run.
FGL notably surpassed current record-holder George Strait, who formerly led the charge with 44 No. 1 singles spending a total of 84 weeks atop the chart. Bebe Rexha has a reason of her own to celebrate, as, “Meant to Be” logging 44 weeks atop the chart makes her the longest-running female artist at the chart summit, (notably with just one single). Rexha’s milestone outruns Tammy Wynette who previously held the record at 37 weeks total atop the chart from 20 No. 1 tracks, followed by Carrie Underwood, who trails close behind at 35 total career weeks at No. 1 across 14 chart-topping singles.
Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha’s hit “Meant to Be,” is currently nominated for an American Music Award for Favorite Song – Country and the duo is also nominated for an AMA for Favorite Duo or Group – Country. The video for "Meant to Be" has notably garnered over 586 million views as it closes in on almost a year since it posted on YouTube.
