Foo Fighters reportedly setting up a Nirvana reunion at Cal Jam

The Foo Fighters’ second annual CalJam music festival is set to take over the Glen Helen Regional Park & Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, California this weekend. The two-day rock-heavy event will include performances by The Foo, Iggy Pop with Post Pop Depression and Billy Idol, just to name a few. Now, after a few hinting messages shared through the Foo’s Twitter account over the past few days, another Nirvana reunion may also be in order!

As Consequence of Sound points out, the Foo Fighters have shared some pretty obvious hints at the possibility of former Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic all taking the stage together again. Novoselic actually played on stage with the Foo Fighters last month during a concert in Seattle of all cities on the band's North American fall tour. Their brief reunions have become a bit of a tradition since they famously did so at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in 2014. Novoselic will already be at this weekend's event performing with his band Giants in the Trees. Back in 2014 Nirvana were joined by singers Joan Jett and Deer Tick’s John McAuley, who are also set to perform at the festival this weekend. The pro-shot video of Jett performing the band’s biggest hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” at the 2014 Rock Hall event can be watched above.

Fans can read some of the not-so-subtle Tweets shared by the Foo Fighters below and decide for themselves, but with Dave Grohl’s natural ability to snag a headline, grunge fans should be optimistic. Other acts set to perform at CalJam this weekend include Garbage, Tenacious D, Greta Van Fleet, Gang of YouthsSlaves and many more.

Fans can also catch the Foo Fighters with Gang Of Youths on their North American fall tour later this month as well. Both bands will be playing at Denver’s Pepsi Center on Oct. 10, and Kansas City’s Sprint Center two nights later on Oct. 12
