The 4th of July will be celebrated with patriotic observances and family-friendly events in the historic City of Boston in 2018. Kids and adults will have a blast at the free and family-oriented events celebrating America’s birthday and rich history.

Boston Harborfest
June 28-July 5 @ Various Times
Faneuil Hall Marketplace, 4 South Market Building, Boston, MA 02210

Boston Harborfest is a 37-year old tradition featuring hundreds of family-friendly activities at the historic landmarks in the city. The opening ceremony by Mayor Walsh and Boston dignitaries will be at the Quincy Market’s Rotunda this year.  Activities will include historical reenactments, walks on the Freedom Trail, live entertainment, and more.

6th Annual Illuminate the Harbor Fireworks Celebration

The summer kickoff fireworks over Boston Harbor will illuminate the skies and dazzle kids and adults. The fireworks can be viewed from anywhere on the waterfront. The suggested public viewing locations include the North End of the Christopher Columbus Park, Piers Park in East Boston, and Fan Pier in the Seaport District. 

Boston Pops 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will draw a crowd of hundreds of thousands of spectators. To accommodate the crowd, the gates will open at 9 a.m. The concert will be headlined by Rachel Platten, and will be featuring Rhiannon Giddens, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls). Legendary singer/dancer/actor Rita Moreno (West Side Story) will play a major role in the Leonard Bernstein Centennial Tribute. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. The dazzling show of fireworks will be at 10:30 p.m.

Boston Pops Spectacular Preview
July 3 @ 8 p.m.
DCS Hatch Shell on the Esplanade, 47 David G. Mugar Way, Boston, MA

On the eve of the 4th of July, there will be a preview of the Boston Pops Concert. The free event will be less crowded than the big event on the 4th. The guest artists will be the same as the ones performing on July 4,  but there will not be a fireworks show finale on the preview night.

City of Worcester’s Annual Independence Day Celebration

The Annual Independence Day Celebration will feature a performance by the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra. The fireworks will illuminate the sky starting at 9:30 p.m. This patriotic community event will be free to the public.
