Celebrate the Fourth of July at one of the many family-friendly Independence Day events being held in the Detroit area in 2018. Kids and adults will have fun at the patriotic events, festivals, and firework shows being held in Motor City.  

Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Festival
June 28-July 4 @ Various Times
W.K. Kellogg Airport, Battle Creek, MI 49037

Admission will be free on opening day and will vary on the other days of the seven-day festival in Battle Creek.  The entire family will have fun at the Skerbeck Carnival and will enjoy the kid-friendly entertainment, including the Tim Dyson FM Motorcycle Stunt Show and Great Lakes Timber Show. The patriotic air show, the “Warbird Salute,” will be on June 30 and July 1. The air show “The Fast & The Furious will be on July 3 and July 4 at 12:30-5 p.m. The Hot-Air Balloon Launch or Fly-In will be held at W.K. Kellogg Airport on June 29-July 4 at 7 p.m. There will be spectacular shows of fireworks on June 30 and July 4. See the BC Balloons website for the schedule and to find admission discount coupons.

Stars and Stripes Fest

The Stars and Stripes Festival will be a seven-day event featuring fun for the family.  The festival features live music a huge carnival midway, Shell-Camino Monster Truck Rides and Car Crush Demolition Demonstrations, an Arts & Crafts, Village, food truck, live music, vendors, and more. The fireworks spectacular will be on July 3.  On June 28, Family Fun Day, admission will be free and all-day carnival ride passes will be half-price. Admission will also be free on July 4. On Monday Dollar Day admission will be $1 and all rides will be $1. Regular admission will be $3-5, free for children 5 and under and veterans with Military I.D.

Clawson Fourth of July Festival

There will be several family-friendly events in Clawson to celebrate America’s birthday. The Midway will be open with games and rides at Clawson Park on July 3=4. The Fourth of July Parade on July 4 will step off at Crooks & 14 at 9 a.m. and will march to Clawson Park. The festivities will also include an arts & crafts fair, Shell-Camino” Monster Truck Rides, music, the Clawson vs. Troy Fire Department Water Battle, Hot Dog Eating Contest, and Clawson’s Best Pizza Contest. The fireworks show will be on July 4 at about 10 p.m.

Clarkston 4th of July Parade

The 2018 Clarkston July 4 Parade will step off from the St. Daniel Catholic Church parking lot. The parade will stop at the North Stage on Main Street for the singing of the National Anthem. The National Anthem will be sung again, along with a 21 gun salute in front of The Fed Restaurant.

Music on the Plaza presents Detroit Social Club

Music on the Plaza will present a free, family-friendly concert featuring the Detroit Social Clue and a funky mix of blues, Motown, soul, and R&B. Bring your own chairs.
