Memorial Day weekend will be a great time to gather with family and friends for cookouts and family-friendly events in the Dallas and Fort Worth area in 2018. The family will also get a chance to pay their respect to the U.S. Military who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
Memorial Day Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum will offer free admission for active duty members of the U.S. military, veterans of the U.S. military, and first responders with I.D. for four days over Memorial Day weekend. The celebration will include family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo in the Pecan Grove, face painting, and music. The Terrace Café will offer $2 hot dogs and $2 root beer floats. General admission is $10-$15.
A Granbury Salute – Memorial Weekend

The entire family will be able to honor the military and kick off the summer season at Granbury. The three-day event will include patriotic ceremonies, festival fun, and music.
Dallas Memorial March

The 8th Annual Dallas Memorial March will honor the nation’s heroes in this respectful Carry the Load event. The two-day event will feature inspirational speeches, music, stories of fallen heroes, flag ceremonies, and more. The celebration will conclude on Memorial Day at 3 p.m., in observance of the National Moment of Remembrance. Admission will be free.

Memorial Day Celebration

The entire family can join in to salute the men and women of the military. The celebration will include an aircraft flyover, a 21-gun salute, and to listen to patriotic music. The guest speaker will be CDR Donna M. Johnson, SC, USN Site Director. A free All-American lunch will be provided by the local Rotary Clubs following the ceremony.
Memorial Day Party at Texas Pool

Celebrate at the Texas-shaped swimming pool with the entire family. There will be pool games and contests and refreshments. At 3 p.m. there will be an observance of the National Moment of Remembrance to honor the fallen heroes. There will be a performance by American Idol’s Ron Bultongez and the Youth Trumpet and Taps Corps. Miss Plano Ashlee Gilchrist will also appear. Admission will be free for active military, veterans, first responders, teachers and members of Texas Pool. Admission for others will be $1/person or $5/family.
