St. Patrick’s Day is a great time to take the family out for a day of fun in Denver, Colorado. There are several free family-friendly events, including the 2018 Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the largest St. Patrick’s Day event west of the Mississippi.

The 2018 Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denver is a family-friendly event that is considered one of Denver’s best community events, attracting the largest gathering of Colorado residents in one place of the year. The parade is organized by a group of volunteers that was formed 50 years ago and attracts about 200,000 spectators. The parade themed “Our Tribute to Irish Heritage Parade,” will step off on Wynkoop from the Coors Field Parking Lot on 19th St. and will head toward Union Station, turn at 17th St. and will head back toward Coors Field on Blake St.  ending up at 27th St. and Blake. Plan to arrive early to claim a good viewing location and bring your own chairs so you sit and enjoy the colorful spectacle. Kids and adults will delight in the sights and sounds which will include more than 10,000 marchers, marching bands, bagpipes, step dancers, floats, police and fire agencies, military members, equestrians, colorful characters, and dignitaries. The Grand Marshall will be Ms. Kelly Brough, CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.  

2018 St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Old Town Arvada

Historic Old Town Arvada will close off the area to traffic for a street festival, featuring music, entertainment, Celtic Steppers, pipes & drums, activities for kids at Kids Zone, and more. Local food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase during this day of family-friendly fun. Admission will be free.

Longmont/Boulder 2018 Summer Camp & Activities Expo

Join the 2nd Annual Event designed to help parents find the perfect summer camps and summer activities for kids. Since the Expo will be on St. Patrick’s Day, they will have an Irish theme, with Irish dancers, bagpipers, fiddlers, games, and kids’ crafts. Admission will be free, but sign up for advance registration.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Colorado Springs

The 34th Annual St. Patty’s Day Parade in Colorado Springs will include marching bands, floats, music, dancers, horses, and more.  Kids and adults will have fun at the parade, which will last about one and a half hours. For a fee, athletes can sign up to participate in a 5K race, Leprechaun Fun Run for children 10 and under, a 50K bike ride, and the St. Patty’s Sports Expo.

The Irish Marathon Runnin of the Green Denver’s Classic Irish Jog

Get in shape for the 30th Annual Runnin’ of the Green 7K, running a course with thousands of people dressed in green. The family-friendly foot race/walk is a charity event that will start in front of Union Station in historic LoDo. They offer categories for the 7K Run/Walk 3, 7K Challenged Athlete, and the 2.2 Mile Untimed Run/Walk (Leprechaun Leap). There will be a celebration after the race, including live Irish music, food, the Reed Irish Dancers, the Colorado Youth Pipe Band, Corned Beef and Bagels from Shamrock Foods, and Killian’s Beer from Coors. Register in advance ($30-$45).
