St. Patrick’s Day in Los Angeles is not celebrated with mega-events like in other large cities like New York and Chicago, but the family will still be able to get out and enjoy wearing Irish green at special events and spring festivals in 2018. Kids and adults will have fun at celebrations featuring music, family-friendly activities, and athletic activities in Southern California.

Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

The Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Hermosa Beach will feature bagpipers from the Emerald Society, horses, floats, cars, and more. The Irish Setter Club of Southern California will march along with their dogs. The parade will step off near City Hall and will travel down Pier Ave. and end at Hermosa Ave. and 10th St. The family-friendly event attracts a crowd of about 20,000 spectators every year.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the L.A. Farmers Market

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Farmers Market, where they will entertain the family with live music and activities for kids. Traditional Irish food, like Corned beef and cabbage, will be available for purchase.

Health & Fitness Expo

The Los Angeles Marathon will be on March 18, but even if you aren’t running the marathon, you can attend the Health and Fitness Expo. Health-conscious families might want to check out the latest in fitness at the Health & Fitness Expo, which will be free and open to the public. Over 120 exhibitors will show the latest designs in running gear and shoes as well as the newest developments in fitness, sports, and nutrition. The Expo will also be the base for marathon runners to pick up their participant’s packets.

Kids’ Fishing Derby

The annual Kids’ Fishing Derby, hosted by OC Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Angler Chronicles, will be held at the North Lake at Mile Square Regional Park. Kids ages 6-15 will get to fish for free and compete for prizes in different age groups.  A limited number of fishing rods will be available for loan. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event and parking will be free.

Huntington Beach Cherry Blossom Festival

The 5th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival of Huntington Beach will be a celebration of spring and Japanese culture. Take the family to enjoy live entertainment, including Japanese dance and music.

Wistaria Festival 2018

The small town of Sierra Madre holds a festival to celebrate their amazing Wistaria, also spelled Wisteria, which holds the Guinness World Record as the largest Wistaria vine in the world.

St. Patrick’s Day 5K in Redondo Beach

The annual Village Runner St. Patrick’s Day 5K is a run/walk in Redondo Beach. There will also be a Little Leprechaun Dash for children. The entry fee will be $25-$40, with the less expensive fees for people who register by Feb. 13.
