The week of Thanksgiving is traditionally time spent with family and friends in Louisville, Kentucky. As the seasons change from fall to winter, there will be special events to be enjoyed along with friends and loved one. Check out the fun-filled events in the Louisville area in 2017.

Light Up Louisville
Nov. 24 @ & p.m.
Main Street Stage, 4th and Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202

The holidays will be kicked off with the Lots of Lights Parade and Light UP Louisville on the day after Thanksgiving. The family-friendly activities will include live entertainment and fun for kids in Santa’s Workshop. Santa and Mayor Fischer will light up the Christmas tree at Jefferson Square Park at 8 p.m., followed by a show of fireworks.

Light Up Bardstown
Nov. 24 @ 5:30 p.m.
Court Square, Bardstown, KY 40004

Bardstown Main Street will kick off the holidays with Fun Christmas Corner and Light Up Bardstown on the day after Thanksgiving. Kids will be able to play and enjoy treats at the Fun Christmas Corner, which will feature balloons, face painting, hot cocoa, and cookies. Court Square will be illuminated, starting at 6 p.m., when Santa and frolicking deer will make an appearance.

Luminate Lexington and Holiday Artist’s Market

Take the family to Triangle Park for the Holiday Artist’s Market and the lighting of Lexington’s official holiday tree.

Light Up LaGrange
Dec. 2 @ 3 p.m.
Courthouse Square and LaGrange Railroad Museum, LaGrange, KY 40031

Main Street LaGrange will hold their Light Up LaGrange event, which will include a light ceremony led by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The festive event will include free entertainment and special activities for the family.

Ice Skating Rink

The ice skating rink on Holiday Square will open on Thanksgiving Day and will be open through the holidays for a fun family excursion. Tickets $9-$12 (skate rental included).

Lights Under Louisville

The MEGA Cavern’s Lights Under will return on Nov. 17 for a unique show of underground holiday lights featuring two million points of lights and 850 Christmas light displays. Admission is per the carload. 

Winter Ice Village
Nov. 11- Early Jan. @ Various times
Triangle Park, 400 W. Main St., Lexington, KY 40507

Kids and adults will enjoy gliding across the ice at the United Trust Ice Rink while enjoying the holiday atmosphere and Christmas decorations at Triangle Park. The admission fee of $12, which includes skate rental, allows guests to skate for 90 minutes.
