The week of Thanksgiving will be a festive time in New York City as decorations glitter throughout the city and people prepare for the joyous holiday season. The entire filmy will enjoy the lights and decorations, department store windows, and the spirit of the holiday season. 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will step off at W. 77th St. and Central Park West and march down 6th St. and conclude at Macy’s Herald Square.  Spectators will link the 2.5-mile parade route to enjoy the excitement of the marching bands, giant balloons, colorful floats, music and family entertainment. People from around the nation watch the televised Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of their family Thanksgiving Day tradition.

Macy’s Santaland

Take the kids to visit Santa Claus and to see the magical Santaland with Santa’s elves and decorations. Santa will fly into New York at the end of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and will be delighting children at Santaland from Black Friday through Christmas Eve. Santaland will be free to visit unless you purchase a photo package.

18th Annual Tree Lighting at Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square

Lincoln Square, on the Upper West Side, will be a winter wonderland for New York’s largest holiday festival. Monkee’s star Micky Dolenz will light the Christmas tree and there will be lively entertainment by musicians, performers, stilt walkers, jugglers, and more. Food will be sold by over 30 of Lincoln Square’s finest eateries and restaurants.

Holiday Shops at Bank of America Winter Village

The Bank of America Winter Village holiday market will be a European style open-air market. The Holiday Shops will be in charming custom-designed kiosks, which will house artisans from New York City and around the world. The market will be a great place to shop for unique gifts and hand-made items.

Ice Rink at Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park

The ice rink at Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park will offer ice skating for fun and good healthy exercise. Admission to skate at the rink will be free. Bring your own skates or rent skates at the rink. The Overlook is an observation deck on the second floor of the skating pavilion and offers a free place to watch the ice skaters, warm up, and enjoy family-friendly games and activities. The Overlook might be closed for special events on certain days.

85th Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting 2017

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center will be free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. The delightful illumination of the Christmas tree is an iconic event that will be televised around the nation. The decorated tree will be on display at Rockefeller Center through the holidays.

Celebrate the holiday season with family and friends at the 21st Annual Holiday Lighting in Central Park. Santa and his friends will be on hand to get the season off to a bright start. Watch an ice carving demonstration, sing Christmas carols, and warm up with cookies and hot cocoa. The event will conclude with the lighting of a flotilla of trees on the Harlem Meer.

The holiday tree will be illuminated on Small Business Saturday. Families will be able to visit with Santa, enjoy free treats and giveaways, listen to live music and be entertained by a puppet show for free.
