Independence Day will be celebrated with family friendly events and fireworks in Indianapolis and in surrounding communities. There will be several free events in 2017, so celebrating freedom doesn’t have to hurt the pocketbook. Following are some of the free 4th of July events in Indianapolis in 2017.
Independence Day Social
July 4 @ 1 p.m.
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, 1230 North Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46202
Visit the home of America’s Hoosier President and join in with the patriotic fun on the scenic south lawn and even sign your name on a "Declaration of Independence." This is a free event the family will enjoy. Ice cream cones will be on sale for $3, with proceeds to help benefit the Benjamin Harrison Presidential site.
IPL Downtown Freedom Fest
July 4 @ 6:30 p.m.
Indiana War Memorial and Museum, 431 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46204
This Independence Day celebration will include live music, bounce houses, games and more. Food trucks will be offering refreshments for sale. You will get a great view of the Downtown fireworks display launched from Regions Tower.
Brownsburg Lions Club Extravaganza
June 28-July 4
Arbuckle Acres Park, Brownsburg, IN 46112
The Brownsburg Lions Club will hold a carnival from June 28-July 4 and will open up the Lions Food Kitchen and Corn Tent from June 30-July 4. There will be fees for carnival wristbands and food purchases. For the festivities on 4th of July, the Grand Marshalls Parade will step off at 10 a.m with the fireworks display starting at about 10 p.m.

CarmelFest will offer free, live entertainment on three stages, featuring performances from The Carmel Symphony Orchestra, the Wright Brothers Band, My Yellow Rickshaw and more. On July 4th, Indy Eleven Parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. The festival will end with a bang with fireworks, sponsored by Centier Bank just north of the Palladium, starting at around 9:45 pm.
Family 4th Fest in Danville

Danville Community High School, Danville, IN
The Greater Danville Chamber of Commerce and Town of Danville will present the Family 4th Fest at Danville Community High School. The event will include family-friendly games, music, prizes and more. Food vendors will sell refreshments Bring blankets to watch the fireworks show
