The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience is, well...an experience. That being the case, there’s quite a bit to take in (watch the 2016 recap above). Although the festival--taking place Sept.1-3--is in its 27th year, JAS is constantly upgrading the fest with new and exciting perks that make the Labor Day Experience a great way to put an exclamation point on your summer.
Of course the Labor Day Experience brings you some of the hottest names in music, but it also offers some pretty cool events and activities that you’re going to want to check out. And there’s always the basics like food, lodging and transportation. We know you probably have some questions, and here at AXS it’s our job to keep you informed. So let’s open up the floor!
Where does the Labor Day Experience take place?
Great question. It might help to know where it is, right? The main part of the Labor Day Experience takes place at Snowmass Town Park, just up the mountain from Aspen proper. This is where the main stage will be along with Vendor’s Village.
What’s up with Vendor’s Village?
The Vendor’s Village offers a wide variety of food and drink options as well as local and regional merchandise. But keep in mind that most vendors are cash only. ATMs will be available onsite. The Vendor’s Village will also feature performances from up and coming acts. You can check out the lineup here. Both general admission and VIP ticket holders will have access to the Vendor’s Village. See below for a handy map detailing the location and types of vendors.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, I have to get there first. I’m flying into Denver. What’s the best way to get to Aspen?
Yeah, that might be helpful info. Of course you could rent a car or ride with friends (always carpool if you can). But JAS also offers an affordable shuttle leaving from both Denver and Boulder. One-way is $99 and roundtrip is $175 (probably cheaper than renting a car). You can find more shuttle information here.
I’ll be driving. Where is the best place to park?
There will be free parking in a number of locations with shuttles bussing concertgoers to and from the parking areas to Snowmass Town Park. Visit the Labor Day Experience FAQ for more info on parking, local shuttles and other general info.
I know how I’m getting to Aspen, but not where I’m staying. What are my lodging options?
JAS has partnered with a variety of hotels and condominiums to offer a number of lodging options. You can check out JAS lodging packages here.
I’m more of an outdoorsy type. Where are the best places to camp?
Aspen is surrounded by some of the most picturesque country in Colorado and naturally some great camping. You can check out the Forest Service website for camping options or follow this link for the best places to camp near Aspen.
Um...I came in late. Have we talked about the lineup?
We’ll excuse your tardiness, because we actually haven’t talked about the lineup yet. As always, the Labor Day Experience has a little something for everyone. Friday features the music of classic rock icons Daryl Hall and John Oates as well as the folksy soul of Lake Street Dive. Saturday brings a little country flavor with Keith Urban supported by Colorado’s own rockers Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. On Sunday pop megastars Maroon 5 will be joined by hip hop legends The Roots along with roots rockers The Revivalists.
Wow! Great lineup! How can I get tickets?
Great lineup and a great question. Unfortunately Sunday is sold-out, but a limited number of tickets are available for Friday and Saturday. You can find ticketing information on AXS by following this link.
I’m a little strapped for cash. Can I volunteer?
You sure can, but spaces are limited. Click here to submit a volunteer application.
I like the nightlife baby! Anything going on late night?
Easy there party animal, JAS has you covered. There will be two shows for “JAS After Dark” taking place at the Belly Up in Aspen. Saturday will see Brooklyn based duo Bob Moses while Sunday will feature Colorado’s premier funk outfit The Motet. Both shows are guaranteed to be dance parties. Click here for more info on JAS After Dark.
Well folks, that about covers it. Have a fun and safe Labor Day Experience everybody and keep it here at AXS for the latest JAS news.
