We’re just a few days away from the start of FYF Fest and this year’s edition of LA’s popular summer music festival is looking it could be the best yet. With Frank Ocean performing in the States for the first time in three years, a rare set from hip-hop legend Missy Elliott and an appearance from Icelandic icon Björk, FYF Fest stands out in a crowded field of festivals.

But that’s the reason you bought tickets in the first place. You’re here now because you want one handy article that can answer all of your questions as you get ready for FYF. So ask away…

What does “FYF” stand for?
When FYF debuted at the Echo in 2004, it was dubbed “F*ck Yeah Fest.” For obvious reasons, it became better known by its acronym as it grew.

But it’s technically “F*ck Yeah Fest” Fest?
No smartypants, it’s technically FYF Fest.

What time are the bands playing?
One of the nice things about FYF is that it’s a relatively late-starting festival; gates open at 5pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday (Beach Fossils, the first band to perform on Friday, doesn’t hit the stage until 6:30). You can view the lineup as a timeline by clicking here, or you can see the grid with set times by clicking here.

What bands do I have to see?
Aside from the aforementioned headliners, you can check out our list of five must-see bands by clicking here.

What are the food options?
FYF will feature food from many of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. From Yeastie Boys bagels to loaded Sumo Dogs, the food options are as diverse as the musical lineup. Click here for a full list of participating restaurants and explore more on the FYF website.

What’s the best way to get to FYF?
For those who are driving, the festival is centrally located at Exposition Park, right outside of the Coliseum, on the USC campus. However, Metro is the best way to get to the festival. Simply take the Expo Line to the Expo/ Vermont station and follow the signs to the festival entrance. You’ll only need to load $3.50 on your TAP card for a round trip ride and those who flash their TAP card at the FYF info booth near the lawn stage will receive a free gift while supplies last. Is there an FYF app?
Of course! Download it for iOs or Android.

Can I bring in my own water bottle?
Yes, as long as it’s emptied out and not made of glass, aluminum or metal.

If you have any additional questions, visit the general info section of the FYF website. Otherwise, all that’s left is to activate your wristband and you’re set! Be sure to check back with AXS.com for complete coverage of one of Southern California’s best musical events.
