GLORY Kickboxing returns to New York City for GLORY 48 on Dec. 1 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, the promotion announced earlier this week via Twitter.
The fight card is a dandy, featuring some of the top combat sports athletes from around the globe. In the headliner, hard-hitting superstars Kevin VanNostrand (12-1) and Anvar Boynazarov (91-23-2) collide for featherweight supremacy. The stakes are high, as the winner of the main event will walk away as GLORY's interim featherweight champion.
Elsewhere on the bill, Tiffany "Time Bomb" Van Soest (18-2-1) puts her title on the line in a bantamweight superfight against Anissa Meksen (93-3). The 28-year-old Van Soest recently signed with GLORY, after going 1-1 under the Invicta Fighting Championships banner. "Time Bomb" is riding a four-fight win streak in kickboxing, including an impressive victory in her most recent GLORY start in Chicago. As for the challenger, she hasn't lost in four years. Both are undefeated under the GLORY banner.
The GLORY 48 card also features former UFC stars Thiago Silva and Chris Camozzi. Both former MMA greats will be making their promotional debut on the "MSG" card. GLORY 9 in June of 2013, was the promotion's first event in New York City -- besides a "Road to Glory" house show that emanated from the Capitale earlier that year.
Since then, GLORY came back to the "Big Apple" just a handful of times. GLORY 12, held in November of 2013 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, drew over 4,000 fans. However, the cost of running events in New York City kept the promotion from returning until close to four years later, with GLORY 43 going down on July 14, 2017. GLORY 48 marks the promotion's first show in New York City since then.
